Setup guide for SEEK NZ/AU users

How to set up and run RoleRunner.

These instructions are for normal desktop use: download the app, connect your SEEK account session, activate your credits, and run it.

Before You Start

You need

  • A Windows PC.
  • Brave Browser installed.
  • A logged in SEEK account on Brave for New Zealand or Australia.
  • Your resume uploaded to your SEEK profile.
  • Your SEEK profile filled out as completely as possible.
  • A RoleRunner licence key from the purchased keys page.

You do not need

  • A cover letter uploaded to SEEK.
  • A monthly subscription.
  • A fixed daily application schedule.
  • A separate SEEK account.
  • Extra cover letter files prepared in advance.

Browser and SEEK Setup

  1. Install Brave Browser if you haven't already.
  2. Open Brave normally.
  3. Log in to your SEEK account.
  4. Confirm your resume is uploaded and selected where SEEK allows it.
  5. Confirm your SEEK profile has your name, contact details, location, work rights, salary expectations where relevant, and employment history.

If RoleRunner cannot find your SEEK login session, open Brave, log in to SEEK manually, then restart RoleRunner.

Onboarding Context

RoleRunner works best when your onboarding profile is specific, truthful, and complete. Better context creates better fit scoring, form answers, and cover letters.

Add the essentials

  • Your current resume or CV.
  • Target job titles and industries.
  • Locations you can work in.
  • Remote, hybrid, onsite, or flexible preference.
  • Work rights and visa details if applicable.
  • Notice period.
  • Driver licence status.
  • Salary expectations.

Add useful detail

  • Strong achievements with numbers.
  • Tools, platforms, industries, and project examples.
  • Company types you prefer.
  • Roles, industries, or companies you want to avoid.
  • Portfolio, GitHub, LinkedIn, or project notes.
  • Previous cover letters if they accurately represent you.

Do not include false claims. If you are unsure about a detail, leave it out or write it clearly as a preference rather than a fact.

Payment and Credits

Price

RoleRunner costs US$5 for 500 credits. Taxes, GST, or other charges may apply depending on your location.

How credits work

Buy a pack on the purchased keys page, copy the licence key into the desktop app, and buy another pack when you need more. There is no monthly subscription and no fixed daily application limit.

Credit usage examples

Your credit usage depends on your job market, search breadth, and fit threshold. Here are realistic scenarios:

  • 0 minimum fit: Fit scoring is off. RoleRunner does not spend fit credits and applies broadly to eligible Quick Apply roles.
  • Low fit threshold: More volume, with each assessed Quick Apply role scored before applying.
  • Moderate fit threshold: Balanced volume and selectivity. Good default for most users.
  • High fit threshold: More selective. Better matches, but RoleRunner may assess more roles before finding enough to apply to.

Setup generation costs depend on your AI quality setting. Pro uses 1 credit each for profile context and keywords. Standard uses 0.5 credits for each of those setup generation tasks. Most credits go toward applications, with fit scoring adding modest cost when it is enabled.

The trade-off: Higher fit thresholds mean stronger matches but may require scanning more jobs before RoleRunner finds enough roles worth applying to.

Applications use credits when RoleRunner generates application material. Pro cover letters use 1 credit; Standard cover letters use 0.5 credits. Fit scoring uses 0.5 credits per assessed role. Employer form-answer AI calls use 0.05 credits. If minimum fit is set to 0, fit scoring is off and no fit credit is charged. Setup AI tasks such as resume focusing and keyword generation also use credits based on the same Pro or Standard setting. Jobs skipped because they are below your fit threshold do not use a cover-letter credit, but the fit assessment itself is still charged.

Fit Score

Fit is RoleRunner's estimate of how well a SEEK job matches your background, preferences, location, salary expectations, work rights, and generated search context. Fit scoring costs 0.5 credits per assessed role. Setting minimum fit to 0 turns fit scoring off.

Suggested settings

  • 8 to 10: selective, fewer applications, stronger match.
  • 6 to 7: balanced, good default for most users.
  • 4 to 5: broad, more volume and more borderline roles.
  • 1 to 3: very broad, use only when volume matters more than fit.

How to adjust it

If you get too few jobs, lower the minimum fit by one point. If RoleRunner applies to roles you do not want, raise the minimum fit or improve your onboarding context.

Starting and Stopping

Start a run

  1. Open Brave Browser.
  2. Confirm you are logged in to SEEK.
  3. Open RoleRunner.
  4. Check region, location, minimum fit, and maximum applications.
  5. Click Start.

Stop a run

Click Stop. RoleRunner should stop cleanly after the current step or current application.

If a run gets stuck, click Stop, wait for the status to settle, then restart RoleRunner if it does not recover.

Reviewing Results

RoleRunner saves application records, generated cover letters, statuses, and answer snapshots on your device. Use these records to check what was submitted and improve your onboarding context over time.

If answers feel too generic or too broad, add more detail about your work history, achievements, preferences, work rights, notice period, salary, and location.

Troubleshooting

Not logged in

Open Brave, log in to SEEK manually, then restart RoleRunner.

No jobs found

Check region, location, onboarding context, and minimum fit. Lower fit by one point if needed.

Credits depleted

Buy another US$5 credit pack for 500 more credits.

Bad job matches

Raise minimum fit and improve your onboarding context.

Wrong form answers

Update onboarding details, especially work rights, notice period, salary, licence status, and location.

Resume missing

Upload your resume to your SEEK profile and confirm it is selected where SEEK allows it.
